Family fun
Dad, Mom, where are we going for the holidays? Be ready to put down your bags (and your teddies!) in the Terres du Val de Loire. If there is a charming place where it is good to stay with the family, it’s here. Throughout the seasons, between laughter and discoveries, let yourself be surprised et reconnect to what’s essential. Turn off your smartphones and take time to share moments you will never forget.
Here are 9 ideas of activities to do with your family throughout the seasons!
1. Free wheel along the Loire River
Get on your bikes, may they be with small wheels, electric or equipped with a baby seat, and follow the edge of the Loire River and the itinerary La Loire à vélo (The Loire by Bike). It’s a nice opportunity to admire the natural landscapes of this wild river. With this route completely secured and marked, even the youngest bike riders will enjoy a great sense of freedom. To arouse the curiosity of everyone, we suggest that you plan a break facing the water to observe our specific birds.

2. A journey through history in the château of Meung-sur-Loire

Visit the château of Meung-sur-Loire to immerse yourself in history! Children will have the chance to meet Walter the robot and to look for its anachronistic objects in the castle. Don’t forget the “boitakois”, playful quizzes for the younger ones to experience a funny visit. When you arrive, ask for the game booklet at the reception desk of the castle, and take it with you during the whole visit.
3. A digital experience at the château of Beaugency
The château of Beaugency is an outstanding example of seigneurial lodging house. After its closure to the public in 2018, the castle is reimagined and opens its doors again in summer 2021, after restoration work. It is now a castle and a digital art centre!
Bring the whole family and live visual and immersive experiences and participate in workshops for young and old!

4. An apple a day…

If you want to live a savoury adventure with your family, we suggest that you treat your taste buds and live authentic experiences by picking your fruit and vegetables directly from our producers.
As a bonus: For perfect ham and shells dinners, buy your pasta made with 100% local cereals. Dinner’s ready!
5. Like a fish in water
Your tribe is ready to face challenges? If you are not afraid to get wet, put on your life jacket and embark on a canoe. You can rent canoes from Loisirs Eaux Vives in Beaugency.
For a unique experience on the Loire River, embark on a traditional boat with Claire and Denis of the association Cœur de Loire. It is the perfect activity to let the imagination of your children run wild, as being a pirate!

6. Catch me a fish

The banks of the Loire River are where you can find many walkers, bike riders, runners, and fishermen. You will see that everyone goes fishing here. If you are equipped, come and catch fish with your family on the banks of the Mauves Rivers that cross over the city of Meung-sur-Loire. Have your eyes wide open and you may have the chance to see beautiful dragonflies or colourful butterflies. Don’t forget to have a fishing card with you.
7. Follow Jean, Gaston, and Louis…
Let’s set your objective of the day: Walk and explore with Jean, Gaston and Louis, our mascots! For a funny and playful family stay, visit our tourist information centres to get our game booklets. With them, you will explore the cities of Meung-sur-Loire, Beaugency and Cléry-Saint-André in a playful and educational way. Our territory is full of curiosities that will definitely surprise children! We wish you a pleasant visit!

8. A break in a giant maze!

A local legend says that between the Loire River and the Mauve River, a pilgrim wanted to reach Beaugency but got lost in a maze the residents call “Labyrinthe”. Inside, monsters and birds are said to have evil powers. Be brave and discover the secret of the Labyrinthe de Beaugency! Created in a corn field of 4 hectares, it is a site you have to visit. It comes to life in July and August. For the bravest ones, this site would be haunted once night has fallen…
9. A break in a giant maze!
Looking for a bucolic family getaway? The Parc de la Folie Hubert in Meung-sur-Loire offers its doors! This 300-year-old park of 2 hectares, a true jewel of the 17th century mansion, will offer you a moment of botanical pleasure and discovery.
The opportunity also for the children to get to know the two new residents of the park: two magnificent alpacas!
