Description of heritage
Descriptif du site et monument historique
At the time of the Carnutes and then the Gallo-Romans, Verdes, Sémerville, Membrolles and La Colombe were home to a huge city on a par with Orléans and Chartres. Today, vestiges of this site remain, including the causeway-digue, over which Julius Caesar's road passes.
This Roman road, listed as a historic monument since 1978, made travelling much easier. It has survived the centuries and is still visible today.
