The White Monkey, Sun wu Kong, the king of the monkeys, is a disreputable figure in Chinese popular culture. Full of himself, whimsical and pretentious, he has nonetheless earned the sympathy of everyone for centuries.
His arrogance pushes him to attack much stronger than he is, his humor seduces the reluctant, his cunning arouses the admiration of all. But the Monkey King is too ambitious: he wants to be emperor instead of the Jade Emperor.
