An active stay full of thrills
You like exerting yourself and living life in the fast lane? Put on your trainers and join us on the Terres du Val de Loire! Come fill yourself with thrills in the heart of an unspoilt nature. It is the perfect destination for sports lovers. We have what you need!
Here are 6 ideas of activities to do with your family throughout the seasons!
1. Bring your trainers and let’s go!
Put on your trainers and enjoy a nice jogging or walk in Sologne or along the Loire River, with wonderful landscapes. La Loire à vélo (Loire by bike) route consists of linear paths to start gently. We invite you to stretch midway and to continue running while keeping an eye on your smartwatch. In Sologne, the marked walking routes are often soft and on the edge of the forest.
2. Free wheel
We don’t have to introduce La Loire by Bike (Loire by bike) anymore. It is a flat and smooth itinerary sprinkled with castles and vineyards. This itinerary is protected and offers many staging points. You can go with your own bikes, for a small portion or for several days, and take the TER train to come back…
You need a sports and sensation tip? Go from Meung-sur-Loire to Chambord. Leaving the forest with a view of the castle of King Francis I is worth the effort. Plan a whole day and a nice picnic.
3. I can’t, I have horse riding!
It is easier to go on a weekend with trainers than with a mount. But if necessary, equestrian centres in Cléry-Saint-André, Huisseau-sur-Mauves and Chaingy have facilities and paddocks. The equestrian road d’Artagnan encourages you to discover the region with a horse.
4. Want to make some noise?
Near Orléans, Cléry-Saint-André’s route is the only motocross circuit in the department that has a driving school (on Saturdays). This route has several zones with various technical difficulties and obstacles. The obstacles are adapted to every player, whatever their level, and they allow you to progress while limiting the risks. Again, come with your motocross and contact the club (MFF licence required).
5. Along the water
In the summer, you can rent a canoe for one hour or a half-day with Loisirs Eaux Vives in Beaugency.
In all seasons, the kayak clubs of Meung-sur-Loire and Beaugency can drop you off upstream of the river. Here’s the small benefit: As you do not have to move upstream, you can focus on navigation and on the landscape. And here’s the big benefit: Surprisingly, the Loire River is not that busy, so you’d better make the most of it!
6. In the air
For a special occasion or for an unforgettable moment, you can book a balloon flight (subject to weather conditions). A true emotional experience: The view over the Sologne, the Loire River and the castles is worth its weight in gold. Not to mention the sunsets on the Loire River…
For those crazy about thrills, we suggest that you try microlight for an introduction above the Petite Beauce, a flight above the Loire River or a one-hour flight to fly over Chambord!
