Descriptif du site et monument historique
The Saint-Firmin bell tower is the last vestige of an 11th-century Romanesque church, altered during the Renaissance and demolished during the French Revolution. The church stood on what is now Place Saint-Firmin. Under the porch of the bell tower, built in 1533 by Jean II d'Orléans de Longueville, a street ran from the Loire to the market. The basket-handle entrance portal is framed in the flamboyant Gothic style.
Three times a day (8.10am, 12.10pm and 7.10pm), you can hear the famous 15th-century carillon "Orléans, Beaugency, Notre-Dame de Cléry, Vendôme".
