Descriptif du site et monument historique
The Ursuline convent was founded by Anne Tardif in 1629 at the request of the Catholic community of Beaugency. The congregation bought the Guélonnière estate to build the conventual buildings, the girls' boarding school and the Notre-Dame-des-Anges chapel.
During the Revolution, the nuns were expelled from the convent. Sold as national property, the convent was used as a fodder shop and the church was converted into a theatre. Madame de Chantal, the community's superior, bought back all the buildings in the 19th century. The church was returned to worship, the sisters provided education for the poor and young people returned to the cloistered life.
The Ursuline community exceptionally opened its doors for the Plant Festival and the Heritage Days.
