Following its restoration, the Clock Tower is now open to the public for the first time. A former fortified gateway, it has seen many uses over the years: aldermen's parlour, prison, meeting place? Beneath this medieval gateway, Beaugency?s "maîtresse-rue" (main street) once ran, one of the few streets in the town to have been paved as early as the 15th century.
Climb the steps and discover the history of this emblematic monument, a witness to the town?s development.
Because of the narrow, steep staircase leading to the top, the tour is reserved for those able to access it without difficulty.
