Giuseppe Arcimboldo (c. 1527 ? July 11, 1593), the Italian Mannerist painter, is famous for his portraits of cleverly arranged plants, animals and objects. While his traditional religious work has fallen into oblivion, his compositions of human heads made of vegetables, plants, fruit, sea creatures and tree roots continue to fascinate and inspire.
