Exposition : Polichinelle sans (100) secrets
One hundred secrets of Polichinelle are revealed in this exhibition, using girdle, rod and string puppets, masks and costumes, paintings, engravings and images, and a variety of curious objects. Fanciful, outspoken and truculent, the Polichinelle character first appeared in France around 1650, and has its origins in the Italian Pulcinella, the Fou and the Matamore. But it was a character with very different characteristics that developed from the 18th century onwards to become ubiquitous in the public sphere of 19th-century society. His wholesome humor and art of transgression are still effective today.
As part of the "Petites Formes Mouvantes et Émouvantes" festival.
